In Memory of Our Founder Billy Poole | February 8, 1938 — April 7, 2022
Poole’s Foxhound Training Preserve was founded in 1992 by Billy Poole, a man whose passion for hounds, hunting, and the outdoors helped shape the traditions that continue here today.
Billy believed deeply in the heritage of foxhunting and the importance of preserving a place where hunters, families, and hounds could come together to enjoy the sport and the land. Around the preserve, he was known for greeting just about everyone the same way — with a friendly “How you doing, Ole’ Boy?” Whether you were a lifelong hunter or visiting for the first time, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome.
What began as his vision has grown into a place where lifelong friendships are made, and traditions are passed down from one generation to the next.
Today, we proudly carry on the legacy he started. Every cast of hounds, every hunt, and every gathering at the preserve stands as a tribute to the passion and dedication he had for this sport and community.
His legacy lives on in every hound that runs and every hunter who walks these grounds.
